Ever since facebook bought over whatsapp, it has always attempted introducing new features to the text app. The main goal is to make it more than a regular texting application.
Some changes we have seen are;
You probably must have made a guess on the new feature. If you are in Nigeria, and you are using a regular whatsapp app[regular release], you're bound not to see the new feature. Now there's some good news though, but it's meant only for beta users.
You still can become a beta tester. This is possible if you sign-up on the download page to become one.
Supposing your now a beta user. Download the new whatsapp version being 2.17.315
New feature:
You can now select filters for your picture uploads
You can now update your status with words with colourful backgrounds.
For now, you'll only have stale backgrounds without abstract drawings on the fore.
On the contrary, you can wait for the upcoming feature we're still expecting around the corner. Whatsapp engineers are still working on it.

This connotes that you'll soon be able to pay directly from your chat app to any bank worldwide
